The Tourist Board of the City of Ivanec was established under the Law on Tourist Boards and the Promotion of Croatian Tourism (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia” NN 52/19, 42/20) with the mission to manage the city of Ivanec as a destination. Operating on the principle of destination management, the Tourist Board aims to promote and develop tourism in Ivanec and support the economic interests of legal and natural persons providing hospitality and tourism services or engaging in activities directly related to tourism in the area.

Objectives of the Tourist Board:

  1. Destination Development and Marketing: Coordinating key activities in tourism development, including planning, development of tourism products, financing, and decision-making, in accordance with national tourism development strategy documents.
  2. Strengthening Local Initiatives: Ensuring a comprehensive representation of specific local interests by enhancing local initiatives and connecting stakeholders at the local level to create internationally competitive tourism products.
  3. Improving Tourist Conditions and Awareness: Enhancing the quality of tourist experiences and raising awareness about the importance and economic, social, and other impacts of tourism. The board also emphasizes the need to preserve and improve all elements of the tourism resource base of the destination, particularly environmental protection and the conservation of natural and cultural heritage, in line with the principles of sustainable development.

The responsibilities of the Tourist Board of the City of Ivanec, as a local destination management organization, are divided into three main groups:

  1. Product Development
  2. Information and Research
  3. Distribution

A detailed list of responsibilities is defined in Article 32 of the Law on Tourist Boards and the Promotion of Croatian Tourism (NN 52/19, 42/20) and Article 9 of the Statute of the Tourist Board of the City of Ivanec (Official Gazette of Varaždin County 67/2020).

The Tourist Board operates based on an annual Work Program and Financial Plan, adopted by the Assembly. Revenue is generated from the following sources: Tourist fees, Membership fees, Municipal budgets and other sources.

The Board is governed by its members proportionally to their contribution to the Board's revenue and their significance for the overall development of tourism.

The Board is represented by the President of the Tourist Board, while its operations are overseen by the Director of the Tourist Board, as outlined by the Law and the Statute.
