Lush forests full of fragrant mushrooms are a favorite destination of enthusiastic mushroom pickers from the surrounding towns and villages. Therefore, every year the Ivanec Mushroom Society (Gljivarsko društvo Ivanec) organizes a traditional event known as the Ivanec mushroom festival (Ivanečka gljivarijada), which attracts mushroom pickers from all over Croatia. It is especially exciting in the evening when hard-working mushroom pickers return from the forests with plenty of "catch". An exhibition is also organized with hundreds of different types of mushrooms, the number of which reaches around 150 different species.

After the mushroom picking adventure is over, socializing among the members of the Mushroom Society continues with roasted chestnuts and delicious mushroom specialties
