This cinema also has a rich history. The history of the cinema in Ivanec goes back to the spring of 1920. Originally, the hall was owned by Rudolf Partlić, who called it "Prosvjeta".
The hall initially had various uses including a gymnastic area and a school. The first film screening was held on April 4, 1920, when the film "The Queen of Spades" by Pyotr Čardjinin, filmed in 1910 based on Pushkin's story, was shown.
In 1947, the cinema was taken over by the Education Department of the Ivanec district and managed until 1951. The following year, it was transferred under the management of "Agricultural Cooperative Ivanec". During that period, the hall underwent several changes, including the acquisition of new equipment.
In 1963, the National University took over the cinema hall, which today bears the name "Public Open University Đuro Arnold". The cinema was continuously in operation until 2013, when it was temporarily closed.
After the 2016 reconstruction, the old cinema hall was transformed into a modern multifunctional space, equipped with the most modern technology. Now it serves as a place for movie screenings, but also for concerts, theater performances, fairs, conferences, and similar events.
Enjoy the latest film screenings, interesting performances and events at the Ivanec Cinema.
