KUKULJEVIĆ – RAJTER' WATERMILL

KUKULJEVIĆ – RAJTER' WATERMILL

Kukuljević Rajter's watermill still attracts attention with its impressive construction; it was the second largest, right after Pust's watermill, and as such stood out among the other mills. Today, traces of the construction of the dam in the bed of the Bistrica stream remain visible next to the building itself. The watermill was originally owned by the landowner Božidar Kukuljević from 1906 and was later taken over by Franjo Reiter. It was used to grind different types of grain and was later adapted for varietal grinding. Among the local population, it is known as Rajter's Watermill (Rajterov melin), probably due to the change of ownership. Kukuljević's watermill stopped working in 1940, after which the premises of the mill were adapted for the needs of cardboard production and carpentry.
