It is believed that the cemetery was once located near that church, but the reign of Joseph II in the 18th and 19th centuries brought changes. Joseph II made reform decisions by which he determined that cemeteries should be removed from the vicinity of churches and moved outside the settlements. Therefore, it is considered that the cemetery in Ivanec was moved to its current location at that time.
